Why? The us gov guaranteed loans which encouraged all universities to increase all costs to students starting in the 1990s… at the same time us gov purposely outsourced all factory jobs and admin jobs in order to tie other nations to usa economy…but they will say well its the cost of labor… the usa did this all on purpose to also endebt and enslave the last few usa generations…. Screw the us gov…

Equity, noun justice according to natural law or right. specifically: freedom from bias or favoritism. Source; Miriam-Webster You were lost at the word for equality, which is at a 5th grade reading level? You take issue with their agenda of trying to ensure everyone regardless of race is treated equally and fairly? The agenda of trying to fix social stigmas and ingrained biases? Bud, I can't even come up with a joke to make here, it's just too sad. If you're a troll, well consider me baited - you truly are a master baiter. If you aren't a troll though, then, well, all I can say is sorry. I have no idea how you grew up, or what shaped your life, but I deeply pity you and your rhetoric packed mind. I hope you one day are strong enough to try challenging your beliefs and to form your own opinions and ideals. Also, I would lay off the twitter (or x as I'm sure you call it) and pick up a nice book. While it's not a muscle, your brain needs a good regular workout too or it'll begin to atrophy, and social media or the internet as a whole is far from cognitively stimulating.

The kid tapping a pencil is not going to prison, the kid who suplexed a teacher, kicked her head in, and spit on her went to prison. And he knew exactly why he was going. If a teacher has no control in the classroom to send a student home then she has no means to controlling long term behaivor. It's really up to chance if the students agree.

WEP/GPO a distressing surprise after a long career. These “Evil” twins’ effect Public Service workers in 15 states. AK, CA, CO, CT, GA, IL, KY, LA, MA, ME, MO, NV, OH, RI & TX. Educators, Nurses, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Teachers aids, Park Workers and more. Many are unaware of these unjust penalties until just before retirement. Unable to save more money for the future. This effects 83% of women. Worked 20 years in the private sector (Paid into Social Security) I was able to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher at age 40. Employed at a school district in which the retirement plan was CA Public Employees Retirement System. (CALPERS). I had a mere eight weeks to be vested in this system. Total needed was five years. I began working at another district in the same state just a few miles away and was enrolled in Ca State Teachers Retirement System (CALSTRS) Unknowingly by doing this I lost 40% of my earned Social Security benefits and lost all of my husband’s survivor benefits. If I would have stayed in the former CALPERS I could have kept the benefits I have earned. Please tell me what sort of "WINDFALL" is one retirement system allowing me to receive and another no allowing? See Facebook National WEP & GPO Repeal Movement. AARP where are you? We are the pillars of the community. Give us a dignified retirement.

It seems that various teacher associations continue to inflict a victim mentality on teachers about why and how WEP & GPO works. This is actually all about states that have refused to pay FICA for these employees, which is not the fault of the federal government or the Social Security Administration. These folks did not pay FICA for there teaching job, were able to pocket or invest those funds and chose a state pension instead of SS, but now they want both; the benefit without paying the cost. SS is all about replacement rate. Sorry but the devil is in the details and it is confusing. Lower income folks get up to a 90% replacement rate for there earnings, whereas the highest SS recipients get as little as 28%. SS is built to be progressive. The number change each year but for the person who was born in 1962, the two-bend points are $1174 and $7078. These represent monthly incomes, so annual incomes of $14K and $85K. A person adds their 35 highest indexed (today's dollars) earning years, then divides by 420 to get their AIME (Avg Indexed Monthly Earnings). The first $1174 is replaced at 90%, from there to $7078 is replaced at 32%, and the rest is replaced at 15%. The sum of these is one's PIA, there SS benefit at Full Retirement Age. So here is what teachers want. The worked some in a FICA paying job, but because a large portion was not FICA, they have a lot of zeros or low incomes, therefore low AIME, but this does not really represent there real history. So they want to get 90% for there second job. Note that normal FICA paying folks do not get to restart at the 90% level! The WEP actually gives them 40%, where as most of us would only get 32%. And they're crying and want even more. Compare two teachers from different states, one that pays FICA and one that doesn't. Both work summer jobs. Both earn their local pension. One pays FICA for both teaching and the summer job, the other only pays FICA for the summer job. For the earnings for that summer job the FICA payer gets a 32% replacement. The non-FICA payer gets 42% and wants 90%. I find that most folks think SS is cheating them. But if they work through the math, it is easy to determine that they are getting the correct amount. BTW, GPO is similar but different. Realize that this happens for two income families, one a teacher (or other non-FICA payer) and one a FICA payer. Consider survivor benefits. When the FICA payer passes, the non-FICA payer wants all of their SS benefit, GPO adjusts that benefit down, possibly to nothing. But this is the same effect that occurs for all dual income families; the widow(er) does not get to keep both benefits. Spousal benefits are similar. When both members have SS earnings, a spouse will get only up to half and likely this will be little or even zero because the progressiveness of the calculation. Teacher do not want "FAIRNESS", they want to get a much larger amount. Teacher Associations, turn your ire on the states where it belongs. SS is not cheating you.

Teachers Carrying: concerns answered by a teacher Money- Giving teachers a legal pathway to carry costs the school system no money. The teachers that wish to carry at work pay for training, licensing, and their own equipment. In contrast, SROs DO cost additional money to place in a school. Training- People are usually fine with a police officer openly carrying in the building but imagine all kinds of nightmare scenarios if a teacher wants to conceal a gun on his or her person. If it means teachers can carry at work, open up the same exact training police get to interested teachers. Tailor it to the school environment and special emergency response considerations there. I'd gladly pay out of my pocket to go through this training to be able to carry at work. Teachers that go through this training would be an invaluable resource not only for responding to violent attacks, but for any emergency within the building. Access- "But what if a kid grabs it?" Many states currently allow teachers to carry and it hasn't really been a problem. Concealed means concealed. Kids don't really know which adult is carrying, and it'd be highly unusual for a kid to just be groping around under a teacher's clothing to find it. In contrast, the SRO openly carries and is a highly visible target if someone's trying to gain access to the firearm. Response time- If there is an attack, the faster the armed response, the less damage will occur. If a school has to wait for police to respond to a call, that gives a killer 10-15 minutes to kill as many unarmed people as they can. If a SRO officer is on the grounds, it may only be a few minutes, but the SRO cannot be everywhere. Allowing teachers to carry means multiple adults in any building can be carrying, reducing the response time to a matter of seconds and preventing the loss of life. Judgments in chaos- Above we went over how teachers would have access to the same training police have so they're starting from at least a similar skill set. However, the teacher in the building knows the community and school grounds in a way that a responding officer cannot possibly know. Familiarity with the community means the teacher will likely be able to weed through the people to find the shooter faster(In most shootings, the community had big red flags and people could pretty much guess the shooter would do something bad). The teacher knows who should be and who should not be in the building. The teacher also knows every square inch of the school grounds. At my school, I know what's behind every door and can plan my movements in a way a responding officer would not be able to. I can move in both an efficient and safe way without any surprises. Teachers are less likely to shoot needlessly- Again, teachers would be trained in a similar way to police. We've also gone over how teachers know the community. This means they likely have a personal knowledge and familiarity with the shooter that chose that school. Using this information, the teacher has a much greater chance of using verbal commands and negotiation to get the attacker to stop without needing to fire a shot. Responding officers are an unfamiliar person in a uniform. Responding teachers are a known face and voice with a developed relationship. "But teachers should focus on teaching"- Having an armed response in the building acts as a deterrent and emergency plan for a violent attack. That should put everyone's mind at ease to reduce anxiety about an attack. Beyond that, carrying a gun can be as commonplace and easy as carrying a cell phone. Teachers are free to go about their business as usual with only a slight weight on their belt as the difference. It's no more distracting to a normal day of teaching than the fire extinguisher or AED mounted on the hallway walls. However, when you need it, there is no substitution for having immediate access to it. "What about just using lockdowns?"- You are a PE teacher with 60 students and a co-teacher out on the field. There are 120 additional kids playing out on the field for recess. The field and playground are typically adjacent to the parking lot and have neighborhood walking paths feeding in to them. What does a lockdown do if a car drives onto the field and a person or persons get out to kill your students? Now how does this scenario change if you are able to immediately draw your handgun and return fire on the threat or threats? School buses pull up to school in the morning, or at the end of the day. They're full of kids and lined up diagonally on the front curb. Simultaneous attacks happen on the lead and trailing bus, trapping most of the school population between them, as killers attack. What good is a lockdown? How does this event change if a teacher or multiple teachers present can immediately respond to the violent threats with handguns on their hips? A student on the inside opens the door to let in an armed attacker. The two go to the cafeteria and attack the 100+ kids in the room. What does a lockdown do for the kids in the cafeteria? How does the situation change if one or more of the adults in the room immediately confront the attackers?
